the wedding of violet and brian
Just wanted to share a few photos from Violet and Brian’s wedding on March 7th of this month at the Sedona Heritage Museum up in Sedona, Arizona, naturally. Can you say breathless scenery?

This has to be one of my all time favorite pics Rich took, I want to make a print for our house, love it!’ It has such an antique quality to it with the firetruck and all…..anyway, it sits on their grounds by the orchard.

Wreaths made by Violet and her crafty crew adorned the windows of the barn…

The day started off okay, I mean there was a lot of clouds on the drive up from Phoenix, but the best man had said that the whole night, it poured. We thought we would get through as there even was hints of blue sky now and then during the morning hours. But then right before Violet was to walk down the aisle, there came the rain, and I mean ALOT of it!!! But, what do you get when you are given lemons, you make lemonade, right, in this case apples, hahaha Nothing dampened the love these two had for each other. All and all, I think the photos worked out pretty well with the rain, and I love some photos with umbrellas, as they lend a different type of touch to the pics.

Sun was still shining while we did some of Violet alone by herself, pre-ceremony….but you can see those clouds thickening….

And this is one of Rich’s all time favorite pics he took of Violet’s dad as he sat during the ceremony. He loved photographing him and said he had a face made for the camera….

Ready to take some rain pics?

Violet is a teacher and so unbeknownst to her, we found that in the many rooms that they have, they had one devoted to historic school house. It was all filled with antiques and such. So was this fitting for her or what? By the way, I loved Violet’s black and white spectator “dancing” shoes and how Brian had a matching pair! So cute….

There was even a chair “for the bad boy” complete with a dunce cap! So, being the goofball that I am, and Brian, always the crazy guy making faces, he happily played the part with Violet scolding him but good.

Then in all the years we have been doing this, the inevitable happened. Yup, the one thing photographers dread the most, making a complete fool out of yourself and either crashing into something, like God forbid the cake, or breaking something, like the champagne glasses or cake topper, or, worse still, falling, yeah, well the latter, occurred. I ended up embarrassing myself beyond recognition, LOL, during their sand ceremony. The table set with the glass jars was placed in the corner of the barn where the sand ceremony was to take place. I knew Rich wouldn’t be able to get over there quickly enough and, so I did. Mistake #1! Violet and Brian came over and started pouring the sand from each of their respective vessels into the one larger one meant as their keepsake. So here is the scenario, there was a janitor closet right behind where I was squatting and I was using it to lean on and balance my weight as I began to take the shots. Either I leaned too hard or the door wasn’t able to close properly, and in any case, with one big swooooosh, the door flung open, and, yes, you guessed right, I fell right into the closet on my bum! Yup, you got it, there I was, camera in hand, with my legs up in the air, all the while catching the shot. It proved for a very comedic moment, and the minister, couldn’t even regain her composure for a few minutes she laughed so hard. Not that I want to do that during anyone’s wedding ceremony, that I can assure you. I didn’t get hurt and everyone was super nice to me in trying to help me recover. I fear I may end up on America’s Funniest Home Videos, but hey, maybe I can make Violet and Brian their first down payment on a house, right? Here’s Violet’s reaction, as I land on my butt! You can tell she is trying to keep it together, while Brian just smirks and goes right on pouring like nothing ever happened, LOL….

The Sedona Heritage Museum is a complex of barns and, outside, they have an apple orchard and all the paraphernalia associated with making cider and such.

There are farm implements all over the grounds and it has a real rustic appeal to the place, with drop dead views.

She had a color scheme of apple green and bright orange, and pretty tins of herbs and succulents in them. It blended real pretty with all the red rocks of Sedona. The food was strictly comfort foods, such as barbecue, potato salad, tossed green salad and cobbler, among other things. Yummmm……. Violet even donned an apron for fear of being covered in barbecue sauce! Each guest was given a poker chip as a gift and asked before the end of the reception to drop it into one of the four charities that they felt the closest too, as Violet and Brian would make the necessary donations. Drinks of the non-alcoholic variety, were served casual style in big, aluminum buckets.

Violet and Brian share a combined love for anything outdoors. They had a slide show during dinner filled with beautiful images of the both of them growing up and then going hiking in Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, camping, drinking LOTS of beer, lol, and anything outdoor related. How fitting then that their cake, which I believe was done by our groom, yes, you heard right, he made those cute little guys sitting atop, was decked in clay figures of campers complete with evergreens and a tent!
.jpg)
Violet and Brian really could dance, let me tell you, they got out on that barn floor and shocked the whole crowd!

Anyways…………they didn’t opt to go online with their wedding,
but I still wanted you to see a few of our favorites from the day.
