the wedding of dawn and alan

Talk about coincidences, we had two weddings back to back at Land’s End in Sayville.  AND, the coincidences didn’t end there, both couples went to Peter Island, in the British Virgin Islands on their honeymoon!  Too funny, right?  We also adore Peter Island and had gone when we rented a sailboat in the BVI’s a few years back for our 25th anniversary.  Anyone looking for a honeymoon locale, be sure and check it out.  Anyway, Dawn and Alan were one of our couples who were scheduled to have their wedding last May at the Atlantica out in Westhampton Beach before it closed.  Lauren, Dawn’s mother, called Rich for advice on where to move their wedding reception.  After a few suggestions, Lauren went to look at Land’s End, and the deal was sealed.  It is such a beautiful place and when you have the kind of day that Dawn and Alan had, blue skies, warm sea breeze, there is nothing else you could ask for.  The staff over at Land’s End take great care of their couples and the food is fabulous, beyond fabulous!

We arrived before our happy couple got there and did some room shots, etc.  Then, we were told Dawn had arrived with her gorgeous Marissa gown in tow and she quickly headed up to the bridal suite to get ready.

We took a few getting ready shots, and some shots of Dawn on the balcony overlooking the water and then went out on the beach where Alan was patiently waiting with Rich for his beautiful bride to be to arrive.

Dawn was so happy, she grinned from ear to ear.  When Alan turned to see her standing there, I could feel a tear well up in my eyes.  He held her close and the love on both their faces was apparent.

We quickly got to taking the prerequisite photos of the families and the bridal party and then moved on to their portraits before the ceremony begun.

Anyone for some Captain Morgan???

I just love how kids and water mix…they can have a good time all on their own!

And some portraits of our happy couple……

I just love when the groom picks up the bride, and the wind comes and all her crinolines go flying, such a timeless pic!

Just check out that big, blue, sky…..gorgeous!

Dawn and Alan live down in Virginia, where Dawn is a Veterinarian and she adores animals.  It was only fitting then, that their own little member of their family, Tulip, who was all done up in a yellow chiffon dress of her own, walked down the aisle on the hand of the ringbearer, Evan, Alan’s nephew.  It was just too cute.

Right before the ceremony was to begin, however, we needed to go inside to do our Katubah signing with their whole family and bridal party.

From the sidelines, on the arm of her “babysitter” she watched her mommy and daddy tie the knot!  And, she was so good, not a peep from her.  The ceremony was done by Rabbi Andrea Frank, and was so sweet and touching.  We all laughed as it was quite windy during the time the ceremony took place outside under the gazebo.  Dawn’s blusher veil, which covered her face, wouldn’t quite cooperate and kept blowing over her face and then would get tangled.  Finally Alan reached behind her and secured it to her back so she could concentrate on the task at hand, getting married to her best friend!  Right before Alan broke the symbolic glass, Tulip, came up to join them in the gazebo.  With one quick kiss, all three of them turned and Tulip lead the way down the aisle before their family and friends.

Due to the very, high, heat of last weekend, their cocktail hour was held both inside in Land’s End’s gorgeous cocktail room and, for some adventurous, brave souls who didn’t mind the heat, you had the option to sit outside by the water, sipping on a myriad of drinks and eating fabulous food, some of which was a mashed potato bar, fresh fruit, salads, etc. and trays of even little hamburgers!  Too cute.

Our tunes were spun by the always fun and crazy team of Ryan and Michael from Music by Michael.

Our couple burst through the double doors to loud claps and cheers of encouragement as they made their way out onto the dance floor for their first dance.

The dance floor was hopping all day long and they were a great crowd to be sure.  Toasts were made by both dads, our maid of honor, and our best man, Avi…

and then it was time for the traditional Jewish dance known as the Hora….

Anyone up for some sweets?

Some dances with the parents….

And, before you knew it, our gorgeous wedding had come to a close.  As we made our way over to the couple to wish them the best of luck, and then to the bride’s mom, Lauren, to say goodnight, we couldn’t help but see the love in her mom’s eyes and the pride she had for her beautiful daughter and her new son-in-law, Alan on their gorgeous wedding day.  It goes by fast folks, but the memories, as they say, will last a lifetime.  We had a blast capturing the day for your families and hope you love the pics as much as we enjoyed taking them.  Don’t forget and drop us a line and let us know what you think, both the couple and we, enjoy hearing from you…

    Photography by Verdi,

Rich and Mindi are a delight to have worked with for Dawn and Alan’s wedding. I often arrive as the photographer or in this case, photographers are doing their thing. They did all with such grace. Photographers are often behind me during the ceremonies I officiate. They captured the special ceremony moments, most importantly the love expressed as they looked at each other throughout their wedding ceremony. That is what I see in person often during my ceremonies and Photography by Verdi captured just that on film. Even I, the Rabbi is truly impressed with the finished photos. Mindi and Rich, it was truly a pleasure a to work with you and I look forward to seeing you both again. Most importanly, you gave my couple, Dawn and Alan amazing memories capturing the details of their wedding day you rarely see. All my best, Rabbi Andrea Frank
